PRECISION MOVEMENT FOR HIGH SPEED FILMING

Consistency. Fewer variables. More Efficient Filming.

A BIT ABOUT MOTIONTHAT

MotionThat was created to fill a void in Tabletop Product shooting, whereby the need for consistency, repetition and flexibility was required to eliminate the many variables and inaccuracies that slow the filming process down. The concept being that a high-speed shot is controlled and timed by a computer with purpose designed software, and not left up to the talents of a crew member standing under bright, hot studio lights.

With over 30 years experience in films and TVCs John Osmond co-ordinates a team of technicians to bring the creative ideas into reality. Beginning in Feature Films such as Crocodile Dundee 2, The Island of Dr Moreau, and progressing into Product Specialist on TVCs for most high end products, John has developed a vast knowledge and experience in rigs, fx, visuals and product placement.

In the team are machinists, model makers, set builders and set designers who combine to fulfil most aspects of a TVC shoot.

NORMhello

G'DAY, I'M NORM

NORM is a computerised bespoke programme that co-ordinates the control of rigs for Tabletop Filming, allowing high speed cameras to film controlled, precise and repetitive product shots. NORM uses both pneumatic and electric actuators that are timed and engaged when a high-speed camera is in the desired position, so that timing and focus are a more constant element.

NORM can also link up to the 7 Axis Robot Platform, ‘ARGO’, from D2 Motion, so that the programmed camera ‘move’ triggers NORM and coordinates both elements simultaneously.

NORMcontrol

I CAN CONTROL RELEASE, LAUNCH, DROP, THROW, POUR, SHOOT, PUSH AND SHOVE

Whatever the shot, NORM can time the release of the actuator or rig to hit the mark every shot. The whiskey pour, the chocolate drop, the tomato clash, the bottle spin: whether it be a static camera or a 7 axis robot, NORM repeats it with precision every time.

NORMrelease

I CAN RELEASE OBJECTS AT INTERVALS OF 1/100 SECOND

At 1000 FPS, quick and successive movements can seem like a lifetime when you’re waiting for the action, and timing this by hand can often be problematic. NORM can release multiple rig actions within as little as 1/100 second of each other so that no one is left yawning at the playback monitor.

NORMattack

I CAN ALSO FIGHT ZOMBIES AND ALIENS

Ok, so NORM is yet to encounter that task, however, if they’re not up to speed (pardon the pun), they may have to get a software upgrade to compete with NORM’S capabilities.

Give NORM a task and get the shot done!
